Your impact Where the funds go

Where the funds go

Our mission is to enable local people impacted by dementia to live life well and build the capacity of the community to support and care for them. That means your gift will be directed toward these primary areas of focus:

Support

Each year our support team responds to thousands of individuals and families who are experiencing grief, loss, isolation and confusion. No one wants to make that very first call, but hearing a friendly, supportive voice on the other end can mean the world to that person. Because of you, we offer support via phone and in-person, free of charge.

Education

Information can be transformative to a family impacted by dementia. Understanding the disease, being able to recognize warning signs, learning how to communicate effectively, managing changing behaviours, and having access to the right support and resources can make all the difference in a person's ability to cope. Your donation enables us to facilitate workshops, educational presentations and online learning for families impacted by dementia, as well as public information sessions.

Training

Professional caregivers with evidence-based training can make a huge difference the lives of those living with dementia, along with their loved ones. Your contribution helps provide BestFriends™ training to hundreds of professional health care workers each year. With practical dementia care strategies and tools under their belt, these caregivers can provide high quality care by putting the best interests of the person first.

Respite Care at Club 36, an Adult Day Program

The Club 36 Adult Day Program provides meaningful physical, cognitive, social and recreational activities for people living with dementia, and an important respite opportunity for their caregivers. Your gift enables us to enhance daily programming by providing innovative and evidence-based activities that increase the person's confidence and feelings of belonging. For instance, art therapy and engaging music programs are used to help Club members experience self-autonomy, joy and connections to their past.

Research

We are happy to direct your gift toward latest research related to Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. Let us know your wishes and we will help match you with the right research opportunity for you.
