Meet Ashley
Ashley learned some valuable life lessons
Share in this heartwarming story about a local woman who experienced the impact of Alzheimer's disease in her family. Ashley recounts her journey with her grandfather, the reality that hit and the unexpected gifts she received as a result of her experience.
After working at the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, Ashley left for new opportunities and was shocked to learn that her grandfather had been diagnosed only months later. Her compelling story includes the impact of dementia on her grandmother, his primary caregiver.
Ashley encourages forming a network of support and taking advantage of the resources available. She remains involved as a participant in the IG Wealth Management Alzheimer Walk & Run, a major fundraising event hosted by the Alzheimer Society of Calgary in conjunction with local community partners.
More than 17,000 people in Calgary and surrounding area are currently living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. We hope Ashley's story inspires you to reach out, find support and take action!
We thank Ashley for sharing her story.
