Managing any potential stress is crucial.

While a certain amount of stress is natural and expected, too much stress for anyone, including a person living with dementia, is not helpful. There are many ways to manage your stress in a positive manner, including:

  • Minimizing distractions or unwanted noise
  • Spending quality time with family and friends
  • Listening to your favourite music
  • Taking part in a favourite activity
  • Going on an outing to your favourite restaurant, store, park, activity centre, etc.
  • Taking a walk or spending time outdoors
  • Taking part in a new activity that challenges your mind or your body
  • Speaking to your family physician
  • Joining a support group
  • Taking a trip down memory lane by looking at photos or videos that you enjoy
