While a certain amount of stress is natural, too much stress can be difficult.

A person living with dementia may feel more stress than they like. A healthy lifestyle will help you enjoy a better quality of life. Focus on your strengths and capabilities.

Some ways to manage stress in a positive way are:

  • Minimizing distractions or unwanted noise
  • Spending quality time with family and friends
  • Listening to your favourite music
  • Taking part in a favourite activity
  • Going on an outing to your favourite restaurant, store, park, activity centre, etc.
  • Taking a walk or spending time outdoors
  • Taking part in a new activity that challenges your mind or your body
  • Speaking to your family doctor
  • Joining a support group
  • Taking a trip down memory lane by looking at photos or videos that you enjoy
